IPDPS 2009 Author Resources

The IEEE IPDPS 2009 Proceedings will be a single CD-ROM combining the proceedings of the main symposium and the workshops. The CD-ROM will be "pocketed" in a printed book containing the full table of contents (titles and authors) of the CD-ROM and a detailed conference program. The CD-ROM will also include abstracts of all papers, and the abstracts will be linked from the IPDPS Web prior to the conference. Please contact the IPDPS 2009 Proceedings Chair, Yuanyuan Yang (ipdps@ece.sunysb.edu) for any questions.

At least one author of each paper should be registered for the symposium in order for the paper to be published in the proceedings. Online registration for IPDPS 2009 is available at www.ipdps.org.

The new IEEE Xplore requirements for PDF will be enforced. All conference articles submitted for inclusion in IEEE Xplore must adhere to the IEEE Xplore PDF specification for compatibility.

IPDPS 2009 has registered for use of IEEE PDF eXpress. IEEE PDF eXpress is a free service to IEEE conferences, allowing their authors to make IEEE Xplore-compatible PDFs (Conversion function) or to check PDFs that authors have made themselves for IEEE Xplore compatibility (PDF Check function). The IEEE PDF eXpress site contains extensive instructions, resources, helpful hints, and access to technical support.

The deadline for submission is February 15, 2009 midnight PST.

The camera-ready version of your paper should not be submitted on EDAS.

The following steps must be taken to properly submit your paper to IPDPS 2009.

1.
Create your manuscript in IEEE Computer Society's Two-Column format. The templates for both Latex and Word can be obtained here: PDF, DOC, LaTeX.

2.
Proofread and check layout of manuscript. It is highly recommended that you do this BEFORE going to IEEE PDF eXpress.

3.
Check the number of pages and the size (in Mbytes) to meet the limits:

For main conference: 12 pages, 1.8M

For all workshops except HCW: 8 pages, 1.5M

For Workshop HCW: Authors are allowed a total of 15 pages for each paper. This includes all figures, tables, references and authors' biography. Please include a brief biography of up to 300 words for each author and place this after the references. This will be part of the 15 pages allotted for the paper.

4.
Create an IEEE PDF eXpress account, if you do not already have one. Access the IEEE PDF eXpress site at www.pdf-express.org. The Conference ID is ipdps09x. This web site is available now.

First-time users:
i.
Click "New Users - Click Here."
ii.
Enter ipdps09x for the Conference ID, your email address, and choose a password. Continue to enter information as prompted.
iii.
You will receive online and email confirmations of successful account setup.
Previous users, but using it the first time for a new conference:
i.
Enter ipdps09x for the Conference ID, your email address, and enter the password you used for your old account.
ii.
When you click "Login," you’ll receive an error saying you need to set up an account. Simply click "Continue." By entering your previously used email address and password combination, you will enable your old account for access to this new conference.
iii.
Check that the contact information is still valid, and click "Submit."
iv.
You will receive online and email confirmations of successful account setup.
Returning users:
i.
Enter ipdps09x for the Conference ID, email address and password.

5.
Use IEEE PDF eXpress to obtain IEEE Xplore-compatible PDF. This is done either by uploading an existing PDF file for Checking or by uploading one or more source files for Conversion at IEEE PDF eXpress web page.

A. For each conference paper, click "Create New Title".

B. Enter identifying text for the paper (title is recommended but not required).

C.
Click "Submit PDF for Checking" or "Submit Source Files for Conversion."

D.
Indicate platform, source file type (if applicable), click Browse and navigate to file, and click "Upload File." You will receive online and email confirmations of successful upload.

E. You will receive an email with your Checked PDF or IEEE PDF eXpress-converted PDF attached. If you submitted a PDF for Checking, the email will show if your file passed or failed. If the PDF you submitted fails the PDF check or if you are not satisfied with the PDF file IEEE PDF eXpress created from your source files, you have three options given below.

If the PDF submitted fails the PDF check ...
i.
Submit your source file for conversion by clicking Try again, then Submit Source Files for Conversion
ii.
Read the PDF Check report, then click "The PDF Check Report" in the sidebar to get information on possible solutions
iii.
"Request Technical Help" through your account
If you are not satisfied with the IEEE PDF eXpress-converted PDF ...
i.
Resubmit your source file with corrections (Try again, then Submit Source Files for Conversion)
ii.
Submit a PDF by clicking Try again, then Submit PDF for Checking
iii.
"Request a Manual Conversion" through your account

6.
Submit the ecopyright form at the ecopyright form submission site.
Hardcopies and faxes are not accepted.
Papers without submitting an ecopyright form will not be published by IEEE.
